| It was back in 1974 when my father insisted that I should join the SAADI Lodge #6 and to be the youngest Freemason in Iran to be initiated at the age of 21 . I told him that I had no interest in joining a secret society that was used by the British Empire to colonize the world , but he gave me solid reasons why it was so important for us to co-operate with the British and Americans to preserve our Monarchy and to prevent the expansion of communism into our country. Little did he know that the Anglo-American forces were planning to overthrow the Shah due to his policies of raising the oil prices which had resulted in a severe economic recession in the West . In the United States the maximum speed limit on freeways was set at 55 miles per hour in an attempt to conserve energy , and in England the streets were dark at night , people cursing the Shah of Iran and OPEC for their discomfort . |
